Can you hear me now?

So, as I posted yesterday this past weekend was the first weekend that Ashley and I were apart. So, on Saturday, before her and Daddy went to the wedding she got to hang out with her Grandma Kathy. I am assured that Ashley insisted on calling me to say hello.... ok, well actually she just tried to eat the phone!

And this picture just cracks me up because she has this look like... "what?"

Happy Memorial Day

Well, I feel like once Memorial Day hits the summer season is here! The pool opens and usually the weather warms up. So, this past weekend Ashley and I had to spend our first weekend apart. My best friend Beth had her wedding shower and bachlorette party and Shawn and Ashley went to a friends wedding in Morgantown and visited with Grammy and Aunt Nina. The weekend was great and to finish it off in true Memorial Day style we headed to the pool when we got back to Arlington on Monday. Ashley liked looking around at everyone, but the water was just to cold for her. Hopefully she will like it more once it warms up.

Yum!!

OK, so this past weekend we started Ashley on rice cereal. This is her first experience with any kind of food. I would guess that very little of the cereal actually ended up in the baby, it was all over her, the bumbo, the table cloth, everywhere! She was very insistent that she could feed herself and every time I put the spoon to her mouth she tried to grab it from me and then I had to spend 5 mins trying unwrap those little fingers from around it.... oh I just can't wait for baby food!

Our First Illness

Well, it finally happened. I knew it was a matter of time before it did, but we had just been so lucky. At 5 1/2 months Ashley got her first little taste of being sick. She has her first ear infection. We took her to the dr on Thursday after work and stayed home with her on Friday. But today she seems to be back to normal. Other than not liking the way her medicine tastes! So, I also have my first day care related cold, but I am hoping that mine is on the mend as well!! Here is a picture of Ashley trying to sleep it off, she is 1/2 naked because all of the pink medicine ended up all over her shirt!!

Stroll'in

Since the weather has been so nice out Shawn and I have been trying to get everyone out of the house and taking nice long walks. It is perfect because we live on a trail. The trail is great for walking, running, biking, etc...

Last night Shawn, Ashley, Izzy and I went for a nice walk in the beautiful weather. (Savannah was acting like a crazy woman, so she got in trouble and had to stay home.) The funniest thing about taking Ashley on these walks is that she is so nibby she is constantly looking around and listening to other peoples conversations. If anybody needs any gossip, you will know where to look!

Happy Mother's Day

A Little Late! Yesterday we had a wonderful mothers day. Ashley did quite a good job of planning a special day for me :) We went to a park here in Arlington where you are right under all of the planes taking off at the airport. It is amazing how low they fly in.

Anyways, yesterday morning started with breakfast in bed, a 4 mile walk with the whole family (furry members also) and then our picnic. I couldn't have asked for a better 1st mother's day!

The Funshine Preschool Gang

OK, at first I wasn't going to post this picture but it is just to funny not to. The other night I was trying to get Ashley to sit in the chair while I took her picture. I wanted to get a picture in her little jeans b/c they were so cute, but she didn't want to hold still and was trying to grab the camera out of my hands.



Well, I guess she had enough this is the picture I got.









I told Shawn that she was either flipping me off for taking so long or possibly she has joined a gang in daycare and this is their gang sign. Or there is one last possibility that is far less offensive. Maybe she was just saying, OK, you know the state of WV, my mommy is from right here...

Save a Horse Ride A....

....DOG! I don't think that is how that song goes, but hey we all know that I don't listen to country music and there is actually nothing I hate more than country music. So at our house the song will go, like this. Ashley is always so worried about what the dogs are doing, I am just waiting for the day that I come in and Ashley is riding around on Savannah and Daddy is not holding on!

Thank goodness that Savannah is so easy going, not all dogs who suddenly get a new baby at home, at the age of 8 years old would be so agreeable.

I like how Izzy is walking beside them like she is Ashley's security detail. Now we all know that Izzy was really just jealous that she is to small for Ashley to ride on.

Bumbo Time

Yesterday when I got home from work and Ashley got home from daycare we were in the basement playing on the bumbo. I swear Ashley about slides right out of it these days because she refuses to sit up in it. Instead she is very concerned about everything else around her that as she is grabbing for stuff she is about to fall right onto the floor. But these are some cute pictures of her hanging out in the bumbo!

Watch Out Daddy

Ashley and I were sorting the mail on Saturday and of course she has to grab onto everything. Well she grabbed up a magazine and started to look at what she would like to have.... to eat! I swear everything within reach goes directly into this kids mouth. Mail, toys, clothes, the dogs, it makes no difference!




But, I do have to say, if you are going to eat mail, the Tiffany's catalog isn't a bad place to start. I told Shawn he better watch out, he is gong to have 2 women to buy for out of that magazine !!!

Chillin With My Daddy

I am not sure why I love this picture so much. I think it is a combination of the look on her face, the purple overalls and Shawn's huge beer sitting next to Ashley's bottle!

Regardless, I think that this picture is just to cute of the 2 of them, I was trying to remember whay Ashley was looking at but I can't remember.

5 Months Old

Today Ashley turns 5 months old. I can't believe that the time has went so fast. It seems like Shawn and I were just leaving for the hospital saying... "Oh my goodness, I can't believe she is going to be 10 days early!!" Actually, it seems like Shawn and I were just saying, " Oh my goodness I can't believe that we are going to have a baby, are you sure that home pregnancy test is right?"

But, I thought that since little Miss Ashley is a big 5 months old today that I would put a picture of her when she was much smaller. Here is one of her first tub bath (she was 3 weeks old) and another one of her on her boppy, she was about 1 1/2 months. When I look at these pictures, I can't believe how much she has changed!!
